The Family by Locardia Ndandarika is a unique Shona stone sculpture measuring 50 cm high, 80 cm wide, and 70 cm deep. The piece depicts a family of three adults cradling a child. The adults’ forms are abstract yet clearly figurative, with gentle curves and flowing lines emphasizing connection and care.
The adults’ heads tilt upward, their gazes meeting, creating a sense of unity and shared attention. Their bodies fold around the child, who rests securely in the center. This positioning highlights protection, love, and the nurturing bond between parent and child.
The stone is carefully polished in places, giving it a soft, tactile quality, while other areas retain a more natural texture. This contrast enhances the sculpture’s depth and sense of movement. The figures seem both solid and alive, grounded in the material yet full of warmth and emotion.
The composition draws the eye around the group. Each adult’s gaze leads naturally to another, and all paths converge on the child. This creates a circular visual flow, reinforcing the idea of family unity and interconnectedness.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
