Grand Piano by Housi Knecht, Mixed Sheet Metals , Unique, 300cm high by 250cm wide by 360cm deep , Furniture , Music sculpture
Grand Piano by Housi Knecht is a unique interactive sculpture measuring 300 cm high, 250 cm wide, and 360 cm deep. Crafted from mixed sheet metals, it takes the form of an abstract grand piano.
The sculpture features a few large, oversized keys. Visitors can press them, triggering water fountains. Each key releases a stream of water, creating a playful, immersive experience. In doing so, the sculpture literally connects sound and motion with water, blurring the line between visual art, music, and performance.
The metals are layered and angled to suggest the familiar curves of a grand piano while maintaining an abstract, modern aesthetic. Sharp lines contrast with gentle curves, giving the piece energy and presence. Its reflective surfaces catch light differently depending on perspective, adding another dynamic element.
The interactive design encourages engagement. Players become part of the sculpture, and the unpredictable arcs of water create a sense of spontaneity and joy. Water sprays, drips, and dances across the metal surfaces, making the sculpture ever-changing.
Grand Piano is both monumental and playful. It fuses visual art, sculpture, and interactive performance. The combination of metal, water, and motion turns a traditional piano form into a living, responsive work. It challenges expectations of sculpture as static, inviting viewers to participate, experiment, and be sprayed in the process.
