1st Generation Shona Artist – Zimbabwean, 1945 – 2023
EARLY LIFE:Â
Locardia Ndandarika began making clay models as a child, using traditional methods.
CAREER:Â
In 1964 she married Joseph Ndandarika, divorcing him in 1978. During their marriage she learned more about sculpture, and later turned to it full-time. In 1986 she became a member of the Workshop Gallery; she was also invited to work at the Chapungu Sculpture Park
AWARDS:Â
Locardia is a skilled welder, having received awards for her work with metal. She was a mentor, tutoring many aspiring sculptors.
