African Queen by David White is a unique, monumental Shona sculpture carved from springstone and inlaid with red jasper, lepidolite, avocado, and dolomite stone. Measuring 220 cm high, 103 cm wide, and 76 cm deep, this striking bust portrays a proud and elegant African woman with commanding presence.
Her head is held high, with her expression radiates confidence and quiet strength. A large, sculptural hairstyle rises above her, flowing upward in a dramatic but textured form. Around her neck, detailed stone inlays form layers of ornate jewellery, adding richness and colour. The warm tones of red jasper, soft purples of lepidolite, creamy avocado and dolomite stones create vivid contrast against the springstone.
White sculpts with precision and boldness. The surface is smooth and polished, reflecting light across curves and planes. Inlays are set with care, which catches the eye and emphasizing the woman’s status and dignity. The balance between simplicity and detail creates harmony and power.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require specialised equipment, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park and outside sources. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
