Michelin Woman, Marble, Unique, 150cm high, 90cm wide, 40cm deep
Michelin Woman is a striking figurative marble sculpture that explores volume, proportion and the expressive possibilities of the female form. Standing 150 cm high, 90 cm wide and 40 cm deep, this unique sculpture presents a large, abstracted woman in profile, combining monumental presence with an elegantly simplified approach to the human body.
Viewed predominantly from the side, the figure displays a generously proportioned form defined by broad curves and flowing contours. Rather than concentrating on precise anatomical detail, the sculptor emphasises mass, silhouette and movement. As a result, the body appears both substantial and remarkably fluid, with each curve leading naturally into the next.
Distinctive horizontal lines travel across the figure from top to bottom, creating a rhythmic pattern over the marble surface. Moreover, these repeated divisions accentuate the rounded volumes of the body while giving the sculpture its unusual visual identity. Light and shadow gather between the carved lines, further defining the contours and adding depth to the otherwise minimalist composition.
Despite the solidity and weight of the carved marble, Michelin Woman conveys a surprising sense of softness. The figure bends and curves naturally, while the restrained detailing allows shape and proportion to take precedence. Consequently, the sculpture balances abstraction with an immediately recognisable representation of the female body.
Ultimately, Michelin Woman celebrates form with confidence, character and a subtle sense of playfulness. As a unique monumental marble sculpture, it creates an impressive focal point for a contemporary interior, gallery, sculpture garden or collection of modern figurative and abstract sculpture.
