The Ribbon Window by Erli Fantini immediately captivates with its elongated, horizontal presence, measuring 13 centimetres high, 160 centimetres wide, and 7 centimetres deep. Cast in bronze, the sculpture presents a continuous row of small squares, each housing a miniature figure, and consequently transforms a simple grid into a flowing visual narrative. At first glance, the composition appears orderly and restrained, however, closer inspection reveals a dynamic interplay between form and gesture, turning the work into a lively exploration of human presence.
Fantini skilfully contrasts the rigid geometry of the squares with the varied poses of the figures. Moreover, each figure expresses its own mood, some recline, others twist or lean, while a few gesture outward, creating a rhythm along the ribbon that guides the viewer’s eye across the entire piece. Meanwhile, the bronze surface catches light subtly, emphasizing contours and highlighting the individuality of each figure without disrupting the overall cohesion.
As one moves along the sculpture, new details continually emerge. The spacing between squares suggests pauses and connections simultaneously, and furthermore, the repetition of forms conveys both unity and diversity. This tension between structure and variation encourages reflection on how individuals occupy shared spaces while maintaining their uniqueness.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
