Dragon Candle Holder by John Gratton, Bronze and Wood, Unique, 28cm high, 45cm wide, 28cm deep
Ornamental sculpture candle holder of a dragon draped around natural gnarly wood.
Dragon Candle Holder by John Gratton is a unique ornamental sculpture crafted from bronze and natural wood. Measuring 28cm high, 45cm wide, and 28cm deep, this enchanting piece combines fine craftsmanship with imaginative design.
A sinuous bronze dragon wraps itself gracefully around a piece of gnarly, organic wood. This creates a striking contrast between the smooth, sculpted metal and the rugged natural texture. The dragon’s detailed features and flowing form add a sense of movement and fantasy, while the wood provides a grounding, earthy base.
At once functional and decorative, this candle holder is perfect for a mantelpiece or table-top, casting warm light that enhances the textures and shadows of the sculpture. A beautiful blend of mythology, nature, and craftsmanship, Dragon Candle Holder brings character, charm, and a touch of magic to any interior.
Born in 1932, John Gratton started his working life as an engineer. He also served in the RAF for three years as a regular and 5 years as a reservist. He originally started sculpting fantasy figures when engineering work was hard to find in the recession in the late 1970’s.
