Gift Mutsahuni’s Relaxing Partners is an expressive Shona Avocado stone sculpture that explores companionship, harmony and connection through a flowing abstract form. Measuring 44 cm high, 82 cm wide and 35 cm deep, this unique sculpture favours a broad horizontal composition, creating a relaxed sense of movement that reflects the intimacy suggested by its title.
Mutsahuni develops the sculpture as a smooth, continuous line that curves, loops and appears to knot around itself. Rather than rising dramatically upwards, the form travels outwards across its width, allowing each sweeping curve to lead naturally into the next. Consequently, the composition feels calm and balanced, while its intertwined structure creates a subtle sense of two forms existing together.
Moreover, the looping sections introduce areas of negative space between the solid stone. These openings allow light to pass through the composition, adding depth and emphasising the relationship between each overlapping curve. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
