Moon Figures by Roy Rasmussen is a unique edition cast aluminium sculpture composed of three distinct forms. Together, they create a grouping that is at once abstract and subtly figurative. Each piece differs in scale and proportion, giving the ensemble balance and contrast.

The first figure stands at 116 cm high, 70 cm wide, and 40 cm deep. It is the most compact of the three, broad and weighty in presence. The second figure rises much taller, reaching 170 cm high but with a slender width of only 18 cm and depth of 24 cm. It feels elongated and delicate, contrasting with the solidity of the first. The third and tallest figure reaches 210 cm high, stretching wider at 62 cm with a depth of 36 cm. Its size gives it a commanding presence, acting as a central anchor for the trio.

Although abstract, each form hints at human qualities. Curves and subtle angles suggest the outlines of heads, torsos, or limbs, though Rasmussen resists literal representation. Instead, he allows ambiguity, inviting viewers to sense figures within the abstraction.

The aluminium surface enhances this effect. Its sheen catches and reflects light, shifting the perception of depth and texture depending on the angle. As a group, the three figures suggest dialogue, presence, and rhythm, almost as though they are gathered in silent conversation.

Moon Figures balances individuality and unity, abstraction and figuration, creating a sculptural ensemble that is both mysterious and deeply evocative.
