Happy Moments by Victor Matafi is a Shona opal stone sculpture measuring 150 cm high, 60 cm wide, and 50 cm deep. The piece rises gracefully, twisting and curving in a continuous, flowing motion. Its form maintains a subtle squared profile, giving structure to the otherwise fluid loops and turns. Near the top, the shape folds into a loose knot, creating a focal point that draws the eye upward.
The sculpture’s looping and curving lines guide the viewer’s gaze effortlessly around the piece, creating a sense of movement and harmony. Despite the abstraction, the form retains an organic elegance, evoking the gentle rhythm and uplifting energy suggested by its title.
Matafi carefully smoothed and polished the surface, enhancing the tactile quality of the stone while allowing its natural variations to shine. The deep green opal colour glimmers subtly across the curves, highlighting the sculpture’s depth and dimensionality.
This work balances abstraction with approachable form, inviting viewers to explore its twists and turns while appreciating the natural beauty of the material. Happy Moments embodies joy, energy, and the fluidity of life. Making it both a visual and emotional centrepiece for any space. The sculpture’s elegant loops and harmonious flow create a sense of continuity, connection, and celebration, capturing a moment of happiness in solid stone.
