This piece is a unique Shona sculpture carved from richly coloured Opal Stone, it unfolds as a series of looping, twisting forms that flow around each other with striking grace. Thin, wide bands of stone curl inward and outward, creating a sense of movement that feels both deliberate and effortless.
From the front, a network of smaller loops gathers the eye. These interwoven curves overlap and reconnect, forming a layered structure that invites slow, careful viewing. Each loop seems to guide the next, echoing the way ideas build upon one another. In contrast, the back reveals a single sweeping line that travels from top to bottom. This long curve anchors the sculpture, giving the form balance while allowing the loops to fold and flow back into themselves.
Jeche polishes the entire surface to a soft sheen, letting the stone’s deep greens glow. Subtle variations in colour move through the stone, lighter streaks, darker patches, and gentle gradients, shifting as light slides across the sculpture’s curves. These tonal changes add depth and enrich the sense of motion already present in the design.
