Born
Munyaradzi Jeche was born in 1976 in Zimbabwe. He spent his childhood in Chivhu, a rural area south of Harare.

Early Life
Jeche’s early life in rural Zimbabwe strongly influenced his connection to Shona culture, traditions, and community life, themes that later became central to his sculpture.

Education
Jeche trained as an apprentice under the renowned Zimbabwean sculptor Nicholas Mukomberanwa before establishing his independent practice in 1998.

Career
Since beginning his independent career, Jeche has become a respected sculptor and stone carver. He lives and works in Chitungwiza and has exhibited internationally, including exhibitions in South Africa, Germany, the United States, and Canada.

Style & Subject
Jeche draws inspiration from the people, traditions, and environment around him. His sculpture reflects a deep appreciation of Shona customs, cultural identity, and values, often expressing emotional and spiritual themes rooted in everyday Zimbabwean life.

Working intuitively, he describes his sculpture as emerging “from deep within,” giving his work a personal and culturally grounded character.
