Together We Grow is a striking, Shona sculpture by Taurai Mupaso, expertly hand-carved from opal stone. The sculpture depicts three owls perched closely together within the branches of a tree, creating a powerful visual narrative centred on family, unity, and mutual support.
Owls are often associated with wisdom, protection, and knowledge, and in this work Mupaso uses the grouping of the three birds to symbolise the strength that comes from companionship and shared experience. Their close positioning conveys a sense of connection and interdependence. Reflecting the sculpture’s title and its message of collective growth and development.
The artist has skilfully balanced realism with the stylised forms characteristic of contemporary Shona sculpture. Each owl is carefully defined, with expressive features and attentive postures that bring personality and life to the composition. The vertical arrangement naturally guides the viewer’s eye upward through the sculpture, echoing the growth of the tree and reinforcing themes of progress, learning, and aspiration.
Carved from richly coloured opal stone, the work showcases the material’s natural variations in tone and pattern, which add depth and visual interest throughout the piece. Smoothly polished surfaces contrast with the more textured elements of the tree. Highlighting Mupaso’s craftsmanship and his sensitivity to the stone’s unique character.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
We can provide a suitable sculpture plinth for an extra charge, please enquire for details. Experienced professionals handle all our sculptures, ensuring safe delivery and proper installation.
