This piece by Patrick Sephani is a unique Shona sculpture carved from Springstone, it  depicts an abstract male and female figure in a tender embrace. Their bodies merge seamlessly, flowing into one another as they reach toward a draped cloak that folds across the woman’s form.

The woman’s hair remains uncarved, left as raw stone, contrasting with the polished surfaces of their bodies. This choice emphasizes texture and draws attention to the fluid connection between the figures. The man rests his face gently against hers, conveying intimacy and quiet affection.

Sephani balances abstraction with recognizable emotion. The flowing lines of the figures create harmony, while the cloak adds a sense of movement and enveloping warmth. Curves and contours guide the eye, leading from the intertwined bodies to the draped garment, and back again.

Springstone’s smooth finish enhances the sculpture’s elegance. Light plays across the polished surfaces, highlighting the gentle folds and subtle transitions between forms. Shadows settle in recessed areas, adding depth and dimensionality to the embrace.

Delivery & Installation

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
