Prowling Wolves by Claire Trenchard, Wolf III, Bronze, Edition 1 of 7, 80cm high by 140cm wide by 25cm deep
Sleek and realistic, yet imbued with a charming simplicity, this life size bronze wolf sculpture captures a moment of stealth and intent. Depicted mid-prowl, the wolf moves with silent focus, its body low and lean, every muscle suggesting purpose and grace. Whether placed in an open space or nestled within a wooded area, it becomes a fantastic focal point, harmonizing effortlessly with the landscape around it.
Part of a set of four, this sculpture can also be purchased individually, allowing collectors to appreciate its unique presence or to compose a dynamic scene when displayed alongside the others.
Wolf III measures 80 cm high, 140 cm wide, and 25 cm deep, and comes from an edition of seven. The work beautifully combines naturalism with artistic restraint, blending lifelike anatomy with expressive simplicity. As a result, it conveys both the physicality and the spirit of the wolf, making it an evocative addition to any outdoor setting.
Furthermore, when positioned in a garden, field, or forest clearing, the sculpture’s sense of movement and quiet intensity invites viewers to pause and observe. Together, the four wolves form a dramatic tableau of motion and intent, each piece complementing the others to create a powerful narrative of instinct and presence.
Claire Trenchard, who studied at the Chelsea School of Art and earned a BA in Fine Arts in 1978, models her figures from life in clay, plaster, or wax before casting them in bronze or bronze resin. Through this process, she captures not only form but emotion, transforming raw material into living energy.
