Komodo Dragon (Large) is a unique hardwood sculpture measuring 49 cm high, 208 cm wide, and 68 cm deep. The piece depicts a Komodo dragon in a natural yet slightly stylised form. Its body stretches long and low to the ground, capturing the creature’s characteristic stance. The head lifts slightly, staring ahead as if the dragon is calmly surveying its surroundings.
The artist has paid close attention to proportion, giving the figure a sense of grounded presence. The thick, muscular body extends into a long tapering tail, which anchors the sculpture and emphasizes the animal’s power. The legs stand firm, each one carved with subtle bends that suggest quiet strength and readiness to move.
Although the form remains realistic, stylisation appears in the treatment of detail. The wood has not been overworked into fine textures; instead, the surface flows with simplified lines and smooth transitions. This choice allows the natural grain of the hardwood to emerge, giving the dragon’s body a layered richness that suggests both skin and scale. Light glides across the polished surface, shifting the appearance from warm highlights to deep shadows.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
