In Love with Learning by Ephious Chivhanga is a 138 cm high, 46 cm wide, 50 cm deep unique Shona sculpture carved from opal stone. The piece depicts a seated female figure reading a book. She rests on a large rock, her feet tucked in slightly and her knees raised to support the book on her lap. Her posture conveys ease and focus. Her expression is calm, yet her slight smile hints at quiet enjoyment and concentration.
The figure wears a wide-brimmed hat and a long, flowing dress that pools around her feet. Chivhanga contrasts textures throughout the piece. The woman’s skin and body are polished smooth, letting the opal stone’s deep green glow shine through. In contrast, her hair, dress, hat, book, and the rock beneath her remain slightly rugged. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
