Divers by Esbe is a laminated silkscreen-printed glass sculpture measuring 135 cm high, 69 cm wide, and 10 cm deep. The piece captures a vivid Pop Art interpretation of motion and grace, freezing two figures mid-dive as they twist through the air.

Both divers are shown in a tucked position, their knees drawn close to their chests and their arms stretched outward in perfect symmetry. Yet, they are slightly staggered in height, creating a rhythmic sense of movement and depth. Their bodies, painted in two distinct shades of blue. Their forms seem to float effortlessly within the clear glass plane, as though suspended in time.

The figures’ outlines are crisp and fluid, defined by confident, illustrative lines and gentle swirls that trace their motion. These swirling accents echo the momentum of their dive, guiding the viewer’s eye through the composition. Beneath them, a printed layer of stylized water anchors the scene, suggesting the moment just before impact, the peak of anticipation.

The transparency of the glass adds another layer of intrigue. As light passes through, shadows and reflections shift, giving the impression that the divers are truly in motion. The result is both dynamic and serene, a celebration of human form, energy, and rhythm.

Two divers in perfect synchronicity approach the water. Esbe was inspired by our Olympic divers in the 2012, particularly the slow motion replays, which she hopes has been captured by this image. Blue Divers looks wonderful in a waterside setting, posed for the splash.
