Esbe
CAREER:
Esbe previously worked as a designer, and she continues to use her knowledge of interior design and architecture to inform her work. This background also leads her to occasionally work with furniture as part of her creative practice, before developing a strong interest in working with glass and perspex.
MATERIALS:
Esbe works on both canvas and glass, using materials such as perspex, paints, enamels, and vinyl. Her practice involves a range of techniques including sand-blasting, enamelling, screen printing, and the use of LEDs.
STYLE & SUBJECTS:
Esbe’s work features a linear graphic style that suits the clean and vibrant qualities of her chosen materials. She creates both free-standing sculptures and wall-hung pieces, often using bold and unusual colour combinations influenced by her love of colour and elements of pop art. Her imagery is mainly figurative and drawn from contemporary life, while her inspiration comes from the Art Deco and Art Nouveau periods, particularly their delicate draughtsmanship.
