Poppy by Tom Merrifield, Bronze, Edition of 9, 150cm high by 90cm wide by 90cm deep, Body, Classical, Figurative, Female, Performing Arts, Women sculpture
This bronze sculpture is of a ballerina and depicts a graceful and captivating piece of art. She captures the essence of ballet in its most elegant form. The ballerina is frozen in a moment of exquisite movement and poise, and stands upon a slender, elongated base.
Poppy is sculpted with meticulous attention to detail. Every muscle and sinew is delicately defined beneath the smooth surface of the bronze. The curve of her back, the extension of her limbs, as well as the tilt of her head, all convey a sense of fluidity and grace. It is as if she were mid-performance on a grand stage.
The ballerina’s costume is intricately rendered. The folds and drapes of her tutu are captured in bronze with lifelike precision. The delicate leotard and lines of her ballet slippers are all meticulously sculpted. All these features add to the realism and beauty of the piece.
Poppy’s arms are gracefully extended forwards and her feet are poised in a perfect ballet position. Therefore this captures the strength and control required of a skilled dancer.
This sculpture exudes a sense of timeless beauty and elegance, as well as capturing the essence of ballet in a single moment of frozen motion. Poppy could be displayed in a gallery, garden, or private collection. She would? serve as a stunning tribute to the artistry and athleticism of the ballet dancer.
