Crocodile (medium) by Anon Unknown, Bronze, Edition Open, 65cm high by 220cm wide by 65cm deep, sculpture
Crocodile (Medium) is a powerful figurative bronze sculpture that captures the raw presence and prehistoric energy of this ancient reptile. Measuring 65 cm high, 220 cm wide, and 65 cm deep, the piece stretches out with impressive length and detail, making a bold impact whether displayed indoors or outdoors.
The crocodile stands alert, its mouth wide open in a display of dominance or perhaps a frozen moment of movement. The sculptor captures the tension in its body, muscles poised, tail slightly curved, and claws grounded, conveying strength, agility, and watchfulness. Each scale and ridge is carefully rendered in bronze, giving the surface a tactile texture that adds to its lifelike realism.
The open mouth becomes the focal point, with carefully defined teeth and jaw lines that suggest both danger and vulnerability. Though naturalistic in form, the sculpture also holds a quiet theatricality. It feels caught in a moment, mid-prowl, mid-roar, or mid-thought, depending on the viewer’s angle and imagination.
With its open edition status, Crocodile (Medium) remains accessible while retaining all the presence of a unique piece. The bronze finish offers durability and a timeless quality, allowing it to weather beautifully in an outdoor setting or add character to a spacious interior.
This sculpture blends precision and power, offering a striking homage to one of nature’s most enduring predators.
