She wears a bright red swimsuit, matching swim cap, and goggles, instantly evoking memories of carefree seaside days.

More than a sculpture, Bronte celebrates movement, playfulness, and freedom. Conn’s signature style shines through in the figure’s dynamic pose and whimsical character. Slightly exaggerated proportions add a storybook magic, while still feeling relatable and real. Hand-worked textures and the interplay of mixed materials give the sculpture warmth and individuality, drawing viewers in.

Conn shifted away from mixed media in 2018 to focus on bronze resin and foundry bronze works. This makes Bronte a rare and special piece—one of the last in her earlier tactile style. She no longer creates sculptures like this for sale, which enhances its uniqueness and appeal to collectors.

Conn reached a wider audience through her appearance on BBC One’s Home is Where the Art is, where she was chosen from three artists to create a seaside-themed piece for buyers in Whitstable. The selection reflects her ability to connect through joyful, emotionally rich work.
