Danu, Autruche
Stove Enamelled Heavy Gauge Steel, Signed, Edition of 80
200 cm high, 150 cm wide
Autruche by Danu captures the powerful stride of an ostrich in a bold and contemporary style. The sculpture stands two metres high and immediately commands attention with its sleek, flat form. Danu portrays the ostrich mid-run, its long legs stretching forward while its neck leans into the motion. The pose radiates speed, energy, and freedom.
The artist uses heavy gauge steel to give the work strength and presence. He then coats the surface with crisp white stove enamel, which enhances the silhouette and ensures long-lasting durability. As a result, the sculpture feels both graphic and architectural, making it equally striking indoors or outdoors. The smooth enamel finish reflects light beautifully, while the clean outline draws the eye to the bird’s flowing, streamlined shape.
Danu’s approach recalls the boldness of pop art, where simplified forms and strong colours transform everyday subjects into modern icons. Here, the ostrich becomes more than just a bird in motion. It represents vitality, momentum, and the thrill of movement. The forward-leaning posture suggests determination, while the sheer scale of the work adds drama and impact.
As part of a signed edition of 80, Autruche balances exclusivity with accessibility. Each piece carries the artist’s attention to detail while remaining part of a recognisable series. Whether placed in a garden, courtyard, or large interior, the sculpture brings dynamism and character to its surroundings.
