Auralian by Glenn Morris, Bronze on Ancaster stone base, 67cm high, 16cm wide, 15.5cm deep, Edition of 4, Nature sculpture
Auralian by Glenn Morris is a contemplative bronze sculpture, standing 67cm high and presented in an edition of four. It features a towering chrysalis form, beautifully cast in bronze, mounted on an Ancaster stone plinth. The sculpture invites reflection on transformation, fragility, and the moment between stillness and emergence.
The chrysalis itself is elongated and textured, capturing the organic ridges and subtle irregularities of a cocoon in mid-transition. Its dark bronze patina gives it a sense of weight and permanence, as though preserving a fleeting moment in time. Positioned vertically, the form suggests potential energy, something on the verge of becoming.
Set into the stone plinth is a small glass box, understated yet precise. Inside rests a delicate butterfly, preserved and poised. This quiet inclusion contrasts with the solidity of the chrysalis, representing the final stage of metamorphosis. It evokes a sense of completion, of release, while the chrysalis above remains sealed and mysterious.
The use of Ancaster stone grounds the work, offering a cool, pale contrast to the warm tones of the bronze. Together, the elements form a narrative cycle, cocoon to creature, enclosure to emergence.
Auralian speaks to natural transformation through the language of refined materials. It balances permanence with impermanence, mystery with revelation, and would resonate deeply with those drawn to the poetry of change.
