Tribal Heads by Martin Scorey (b. 1961), Found Object, Unique, 94 cm (H) × 35 cm (W) × 26 cm (D)
Tribal Heads is a unique sculpture by Martin Scorey. It features three expressive heads crafted from found objects. Each head is painted in bold colours, black and white, blue, orange, and red. Scorey combines everyday materials to create striking, mask-like forms. The rough textures and assembled elements give each head its own character. Together, they stand like ancient sentinels or totems, evoking echoes of tribal art and ritual. The vivid paintwork contrasts with the raw, reclaimed materials. This adds energy and tension to the piece. The heads feel timeless yet modern, rooted in tradition but alive with contemporary spirit. At nearly a metre tall, Tribal Heads makes a bold statement. It invites viewers to explore identity, culture, and the hidden stories behind discarded objects. This sculpture would stand out in a modern collection or any space that values the unexpected beauty of transformation.
