Toilet Roll Holder by Paula Groves turns everyday bathroom utility into bold industrial art. Crafted from welded steel and measuring 166cm high, 157cm wide, and 73cm deep, the sculpture stands with the presence of functional furniture yet behaves like a playful abstract monument. Groves enlarges the familiar object to an unexpected scale, forcing viewers to confront something usually ignored. What normally hides in a corner now dominates the room with humour and confidence.
The structure combines sweeping curves and rigid angles. Thick steel tubes twist upward, forming a frame that echoes the shape of a household toilet roll holder, but with exaggerated proportions and sculptural attitude. The heavy metal gives weight to a subject associated with lightness and disposability. this contrast creates irony. The sculpture becomes both practical and absurd.
Groves welds the steel with visible seams, leaving traces of craftsmanship. These lines emphasize construction rather than hiding it. Viewers can follow each joint, appreciating the physical work that transforms industrial material into expressive form. The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
