The Missing Peace by Richard Jack
Portland Limestone, Stainless Steel
121 cm (h) × 39 cm (w) × 17 cm (d)
A striking abstract figurative sculpture carved from white Portland limestone with subtle stainless steel detailing. The work evokes the form of a human torso, its smooth, flowing surfaces suggesting both strength and vulnerability. At its centre, the figure appears to clutch a delicate flower. This symbolises a tension between power and fragility, control and compassion. The floral motif, emerging from the stone’s pale body, introduces an organic softness that contrasts with the cool precision of the metal.
Jack’s The Missing Peace embodies a sense of inner reflection and emotional resilience. Its minimalist yet expressive design invites contemplation on themes of wholeness, identity, and the quiet beauty of restraint.
Richard Jack was born in 1949 Harare, Zimbabwe. He began his career as an artist in South Africa in 1975. He moved to Farnham, England in 2002 where he now lives and continues to exhibit regularly. Richard’s sculptures are inspired by his life in Africa and the UK and express his intuitive feelings of the times we live in. With art he has found the means to express his reflections, memories and imagination that continually inspires him, in this rapidly changing world.
