Sirens by Noah Taylor, Patinated Brass & Copper, Unique, 32cm high by 6cm wide by 9cm deep, Abstract, Humorous, Other sculpture
Sirens by Noah Taylor is a unique patinated brass and copper sculpture, measuring 32 cm high, 6 cm wide, and 9 cm deep. The piece depicts an abstract siren figure, mounted on a rectangular body supported by four straight legs, giving it both stability and presence.
The main form rises as a tall, curved rectangle. At the top, a forward-pointing funnel or pipe emerges, adding a mechanical yet organic touch. Flowing from the funnel is a comb- or hair-like feature that sweeps backward, giving the figure movement and life. The sculpture hints at a figurative quality, as though the siren itself might spring into action.
Small protrusions on the chest and a tiny one on the stomach add subtle detail, enhancing the abstract form with a sense of anatomy without being literal. The long legs elevate the figure, emphasizing its height and creating a contrast with the slender body.
Taylor’s use of brass and copper, patinated to deepen colour and texture, gives the sculpture a warm, living quality. The combination of geometric shapes and subtle figurative hints makes the piece feel dynamic and slightly whimsical. It balances abstraction with recognizable features, creating a striking, almost animated presence despite its small scale.
