New Beginning by Ian Thompson is a signed steel sculpture measuring 121 cm high, 40 cm wide, and 20 cm deep. The piece depicts a slender, abstracted male figure standing tall on a platform, raising a large golden disk above his head. His pose feels powerful and uplifting, as if presenting the disk to the world or drawing energy from it.
The figure’s form, though stylized, remains clearly human. His limbs stretch upward, his stance balanced and purposeful. The metal construction adds a raw, industrial quality, each piece of steel is visibly welded together, creating seams and lines that trace his body. These welded joints emphasize craftsmanship while giving texture and rhythm to the surface.
In contrast, the golden disk above him offers a smooth, radiant counterpoint. Its muted metallic tone catches the light, symbolizing hope, renewal, or enlightenment. This contrast between dark steel and soft gold enriches the sculpture’s emotional depth.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
