Ian Thompson
BORN:
June 1937 – July 2018 In Manchester UK, bought up in Preston. He trained at the regional College of Art. He went into teaching art and design, by the end of his career he was director of the School of Creative Arts in Education at the Birmingham Polytechnic Faculty of Education. In 1987 he retired from teaching to concentrate on being an artist. Listed as an approved artist with the Church of England Council for the Care of Churches in 1991. In 1993 Ian and his family moved to the Yorkshire Pennines. In 1996 he was elected as a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors.
MEDIUMS USED:
Steel, Hardwoods, Textiles, and Stained Glass. He has work in both private and public collections.
