A tall bronze sculpture of a man and a woman in the style of Giacometti.
Man & Woman by Ian Gregory is a striking bronze sculpture, signed “IG” and marked as edition 2 of 9 with a foundry stamp. Measuring 173 cm in height, 29 cm in width, and 14 cm in depth, the piece presents a tall, slender interpretation of the human form, capturing both presence and intimacy through abstraction. Created in the style of Giacometti, Gregory’s figures embody elongated elegance, emphasizing verticality and the essence of human connection over detailed realism.
The sculpture features a man and a woman standing side by side, their forms simplified yet expressive. The tall, narrow proportions draw the eye upward, evoking a sense of aspiration and fragility while also communicating strength and resilience. Each figure is reduced to its most essential lines. This allows the viewer to focus on posture, gesture, and the subtle dynamics of their relationship. The abstraction highlights the tension and balance between the two forms, suggesting both individuality and unity.
Bronze, as the chosen medium, enhances the sculpture’s tactile quality. Gregory’s attention to proportion and spacing creates a rhythm between the figures, guiding the viewer through a narrative of companionship, contrast, and harmony.
Overall, Man & Woman transforms simplicity into profound expression. Through its elongated forms and careful abstraction, the sculpture celebrates the human body and interpersonal connection, capturing both vulnerability and strength. Its presence is at once elegant, contemplative, and timeless, making it a compelling tribute to the essence of human form and relationship.
