Sisters In Harmony by Lawrence Tirivangan, Springstone, Unique, 48cm high by 26cm wide by 18cm deep, Body,  Family, Female, Figurative, People, Women, love sculpture

Sisters In Harmony by Lawrence Tirivangan is a unique Shona Springstone sculpture measuring 48cm high, 26cm wide, and 18cm deep. The piece rises from a curved, vase-like base where three women emerge from a single point. Their long necks stretch upward with gentle grace as they all look in the same direction, creating a unified rhythm.

Each sister shares the same calm expression. Their eyes remain closed, suggesting peace, reflection, or quiet connection. Although they feel unified, Tirivangan adds subtle differences. The two outer sisters wear matching bun hairstyles, while the central figure carries a smooth disc-shaped form on her head, giving her a distinct presence within the trio.

Transitioning up the sculpture, the polished Springstone surface reveals a deep, rich black that highlights the women’s faces and necks. Their smooth features catch the light softly, enhancing the serenity of their expressions. In contrast, the unpolished areas, such as sections of the vase and the textured hair, retain a lighter grey tone. This deliberate contrast strengthens the relationship between form and texture.

As the figures rise together, the curves of the base support their upward motion, reinforcing a sense of unity and shared purpose. The sculpture balances individuality with harmony, capturing familial closeness through simplified, elegant forms. Through polished highlights and matte accents, Tirivangan brings depth, character, and warmth to this refined Springstone composition.
