Linear Glass by Allister Malcolm is a unique glass sculpture, standing 64 cm high, 21 cm wide, and 21 cm deep. The piece features an abstract oval sheet of glass, cut sharply at an angle near the top. From this angled cut, a smaller hole is removed, adding depth and intrigue while guiding the eye along the form.
From the cut, long strips radiate outward. Black and white lines stretch across the glass, speckled with subtle variations that break up the linear pattern. These lines vary in thickness, creating a sense of movement and rhythm. The contrast between the dark and light lines emphasizes the glass’s clarity and delicate structure.
The oval sheet rests on a solid clear glass base, cut precisely to support the sculpture while remaining visually unobtrusive. Light passes through both the base and the main form, interacting with the lines and casting shifting reflections and subtle shadows. This interplay enhances the sense of energy and depth.
Throughout the piece, Malcolm balances geometry with organic flow. The angled cut and radiating lines provide structure, while the speckled details soften the effect. As a result, the sculpture feels both deliberate and spontaneous.
Linear Glass draws the viewer in. One follows the lines from the top cut to the base, noticing how each angle offers a slightly different view. The sculpture highlights contrast, movement, and the way light animates form. It combines clarity and complexity, inviting contemplation of shape, line, and transparency.
Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
