Born in Egypt in 1930 to a traditional Jewish family, Halvani grew up surrounded by faith, scholarship, and cultural depth. The son of a judge and a mother descended from a rabbinic lineage, he developed an early fascination with ancient Egyptian art and Biblical narrative. Encouraged by mentors after winning a national competition, he earned a full scholarship to study at the Zamalek Academy of Art and Cairo University, later continuing at the Bezalel Academy in Israel and Hammersmith College of Art in London (MA, Sculpture).
Throughout his distinguished career, Halvani lectured at Tel Aviv and Haifa Universities, founded influential art programs, and established a sculpture park and artists’ colony in Safed.
