Family Life

Victor was born in Egypt 1930 to Bella and Yitzchak.  They were a traditional Jewish family. His father was a judge. His mother descendent from a rabbinic family. As a result she was a great storyteller. She would transform the heroes of the Bible into her child’s best friends.

Inspiration

First thing to remember is, his works reflect his childhood interest and passion for ancient Egyptian art. Evidently, he loved the beauty and spirituality inspired by Biblical stories. And as a result they caught the eye of his teachers. With their encouragement he entered a national competition henceforth he won first place. Subsequently winning a full scholarship at the art faculty in Zamalek and at the Cairo University. He studied at the Zamalek Academy of Art, Cairo, and won scholarships to further study at the Bezalel Academy of Art, Israel, and Hammersmith College of Art, London. (MA, Sculpture).

Career

He has taught and lectured on Sculpture at Tel Aviv and Haifa Universities, and was instrumental in the founding of Art Learning Programs and Art Workshops in Israel. As a result he has also developed a self-titled sculpture park, artist’s colony and foundation in Safed, Israel
Another key point to mention, Halvani was elected to represent Israel at the International Exposition of Sculpture in Paris, and participated in the 2nd Biennial of Sculpture in Israel at the Museum of Modern Art, Haifa.
