Willard Bopoto was born in 1985 in Northern Zimbabwe.  Zimbabwe is known for being rich in stone deposits. As a child he spent most of his childhood experimenting with different pieces of stone. He was just ten years old when he sold his first sculpture to an American. This inspired him to keep on carving, he went on to become a very well respected skilled artist.
