Emerging Figure Triptych by Michael Ayrton, executed in 1966, is a striking abstract sculpture in bronze and copper wire on wood plinths. Each panel measures 97 cm high, 57 cm wide, and 28 cm deep. The work comes from an edition of six.
The triptych consists of three upright panels, each featuring a distinct figure seemingly pushing its way out of the surface. The forms are deliberately distorted, capturing the struggle and tension of emergence. Some figures reveal parts of the torso, while others show limbs, emphasizing different stages of breaking free. Copper wires stretch across the figures in clumps, adding texture and suggesting restraint or tension as the bodies strive to escape their confines.
Ayrton combines smooth surfaces with intentional lumps and bumps, creating a tactile, dynamic quality. The natural bronze tones shine through, contrasting subtly with the copper wire accents. The wooden plinths provide sturdy support while enhancing the verticality of the figures and reinforcing the sense of upward motion.

Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
