This piece by Bywell Sango is a unique Shona sculpture carved from cobalt stone. Measuring 87 cm high, 69 cm wide, and 21 cm deep, the piece presents a series of abstract blocks stacked vertically. Each block interlocks carefully with the next, forming a single oval shape. From certain angles, the blocks appear to balance delicately, creating a sense of movement and tension.
The deep blue cobalt stone enhances the visual drama of the work. Polished surfaces catch light, emphasizing smooth curves and precise edges, while shadows form in the spaces between blocks. These shifts in tone guide the viewer’s eye across the sculpture, highlighting both individual shapes and the overall composition.
Sango plays with perception and rhythm. Although each block looks independent, together they form a cohesive oval that flows seamlessly from top to bottom. As the viewer moves around the piece, subtle changes in alignment and proportion become visible, reinforcing the sense of balance and interplay.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
We can provide a suitable sculpture plinth for an extra charge, please enquire for details. Experienced professionals handle all our sculptures, ensuring safe delivery and proper installation.
