Dragon VI by John Gratton, Steel and Wood, Unique, 34cm high, 35cm wide, 26cm deep
Ornamental steel handmade sculpture of a dragon on a gnarly wooden base.
Dragon VI by John Gratton is a unique handmade ornamental sculpture crafted from steel and set on a gnarly wooden base. Measuring 34cm high, 35cm wide, and 26cm deep, this table-top piece captures the mythical charm of the dragon in a bold yet elegant form.
The steel dragon is rich in detail and full of character. The dragon has flowing lines and a dynamic posture that suggest movement and vitality. Its sinuous body wraps or perches naturally atop the twisted wood. This creates a striking contrast between forged metal and organic texture.
Beautifully balanced and full of personality, Dragon VI is ideal for display on a table, plinth, or shelf. It’s a celebration of fantasy, craftsmanship, and the harmony between the manmade and the natural—perfect for adding a magical touch to any setting
Born in 1932, John Gratton started his working life as an engineer. He also served in the RAF for three years as a regular and 5 years as a reservist. He originally started sculpting fantasy figures when engineering work was hard to find in the recession in the late 1970’s.
