Albatross by Frederic Chevarin is a 230 cm high, 72 cm wide, and 40 cm deep sculpture carved from Carrara marble. The piece captures the essence of an albatross in flight while simplifying its form into clean, abstract shapes. Chevarin focuses on the bird’s wings and tail, reducing detail to emphasize movement and flow.
The bird tilts on its side as it glides. One wing sweeps upward gracefully, while the other is shortened and molded into the oval marble base. This base supports the sculpture while continuing its smooth, flowing lines. By omitting fine detail, the artist directs attention to the motion and balance of the bird rather than its anatomy.
The marble is carefully polished, allowing the white surface to glow. Light travels over its curves, enhancing the sense of lift and air beneath the wings. The contrast between the elongated wing and the shortened wing adds tension, suggesting both motion and stillness at once.

Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
