Fungai Dodzo’s Celebrating our New Born is an expressive Shona Opal stone sculpture that celebrates family, new life and the protective bond between parent and offspring. Measuring 39 cm high, 29 cm wide and 20 cm deep, this unique sculpture depicts a family of three gazelles whose individual forms flow together to create one unified composition.
Dodzo arranges the three gazelle heads vertically, gradually moving from the largest figure at the top to the smallest below. The largest gazelle features a prominent pair of antlers, while carefully shaped ears and elongated heads establish the identity of each animal. Meanwhile, the smallest figure nestles naturally within the composition, reinforcing the sculpture’s theme of a newborn protected by its family.
Rather than concentrating on realistic anatomical detail, Dodzo simplifies each gazelle into elegant, flowing forms. Their bodies curve downwards and merge into a single shared base, visually connecting the family as one. Consequently, the composition communicates unity and closeness through structure as much as subject matter.
Moreover, the natural qualities of Opal stone complement the sculpture’s smooth contours and restrained detailing. Light moves gently across the curved surfaces, highlighting the transitions between each figure while emphasising the solidity and tactile character of the hand-carved stone.

The Sculpture Park will organise and pack each sculpture, then hand it over to a courier for delivery. We insure all deliveries during transit to protect against any damage or loss. Sculptures usually leave for dispatch within 5 to 14 working days after purchase. Experienced professionals handle all our sculptures, ensuring safe delivery and proper installation.
