Canto by Robert Persey is a bronze sculpture, signed and numbered Edition 3 of 3, measuring 152cm high, 90cm wide, and 90cm deep. The work takes the form of an abstract, elongated shape that rises with uneven rhythm before folding into a distorted loop. Its surface is textured and irregular, giving the piece a raw, tactile quality.
The sculpture stretches upward with a sense of striving. Its form does not move in a straight line but instead swells and narrows, creating a bumpy, organic rhythm. As the eye follows the shape, the line curves back, closing into a loop that resists symmetry. The irregular connection suggests both continuity and tension, a cycle that is never smooth yet remains whole.
Persey uses bronze to great effect. The material’s weight and solidity anchor the form, while the dark patina enhances the play of light across its textured surface. Shadows deepen in the crevices while highlights catch on the ridges, reinforcing the sculpture’s uneven vitality. The surface seems to pulse with energy, as if the material itself is in flux.
Despite its abstract nature, Canto feels expressive. The looping form suggests movement, even struggle, while its upward rise conveys persistence. The bumps and irregularities give the work character, preventing it from becoming overly polished or static. It feels alive, a meditation on imperfection, growth, and return.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
