Moodius Centaurus by Andrew Sinclair is a bronze resin sculpture, edition of 25, measuring 100 cm high, 36 cm wide, and 36 cm deep. The piece depicts a centaur perched on a tall ledge, combining strength, vigilance, and mythic presence.
The human half sits upright and imposing. He looks to the left with folded arms and a stern, unwavering gaze. His posture conveys confidence, almost defiance. A skull-like helmet crowns his head, shaped like an animal’s skull and adding a primal, ritualistic edge. The horse half supports this authority. Instead of standing in motion, the hindquarters rest firmly on the ledge while the front legs remain locked, keeping him elevated and alert. This unusual seated stance gives the centaur a watchful, guarding demeanor, as if protecting something unseen.
The structure beneath him adds to the drama. The ledge is tall and complex, forming a sculptural pedestal rather than a simple platform. A smooth, flat top supports the centaur. Below it, an intricate root-like middle section twists downward, merging into a rugged stack of rocks. These layers connect to the base, giving the sculpture a sense of growth from the earth upward.
Sinclair uses contrasting finishes to sharpen detail. The centaur remains in rich bronze tones, smoothed yet textured with subtle marks. The pedestal and rocks shift into white, amplifying their forms and drawing attention to the figure above. This contrast creates visual hierarchy and heightens the sculpture’s commanding presence.
The piece blends classical mythology with contemporary design, presenting the centaur not in action, but in judgment, patient, still, and powerful.

The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
