The Three Faces by Martin Matimura immediately draws the viewer into a contemplative and intimate scene. Carved from springstone, this unique sculpture measures 104 centimetres high, 56 centimetres wide, and 25 centimetres deep. At first glance, the work presents three female figures aligned together, all facing the same direction with their heads gently bowed, and consequently evokes a sense of unity, introspection, and quiet strength.
Matimura uses the natural tones of the stone to distinguish each figure, creating subtle contrasts in black, white, and grey. Moreover, the varying hues suggest individuality within their collective presence, hinting that the figures might represent sisters or close companions. Meanwhile, the smooth, flowing lines of the stone enhance the sense of harmony, allowing the three forms to appear both connected and distinct.
As the viewer moves around the sculpture, additional details emerge. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
