Giant Iguana Head Plaque by David Cooke, Bronze Resin, 90cm high, 106cms wide, 20cm deep, Dragon, Lizard, Creature, Animal, Wall Hanging Sculpture
This piece is a bold, figurative sculpture by David Cooke(opens in new tab). Cast in bronze resin, the piece captures the dramatic profile of a giant iguana. It is viewed from the side, stretched wide across more than a metre. The form is powerful and precise. Every scale, ridge, and curve is carefully rendered.
The sculpture blends realism(opens in new tab) with imagination. It feels both ancient and alive, like a creature caught between dragon and lizard. The iguana’s features are exaggerated, giving it a mythic presence. It becomes more than an animal. It becomes a symbol of strength, survival, and the wild.
The bronze resin gives the piece a rich, weathered finish. It adds weight and texture. Light picks out the details of the skin and bone. Though flat like a plaque, the sculpture has strong dimensionality. It seems ready to move, to turn its head, to breathe.
Cooke’s work often explores animals as powerful, sculptural forms. Here, he invites the viewer to see the iguana not just as a reptile, but as a creature of wonder. Giant Iguana Head Plaque stands at the edge of realism and fantasy. It celebrates the fierce beauty of the animal world.
