He has exhibited at some of the major UK ceramic and wildlife art shows, such as Art In Clay at Hatfield House, Potfest In Park, Penrith and also at the annual Society of Wildlife Artists Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.
David has worked on a number of commissions for centres open to the public, such as a giant mole and beetles for ‘Creatures of the Underworld’ at the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales. In 2009 he created Belemnites and a dinosaur skull for the Great North Museum, Newcastle.
As well as making animals David also writes songs about them, and is currently touring schools and science festivals with Amoeba to Zebra, a natural history musical telling the story of evolution using the medium of pop music, and utilizing some bizarre and impressive props that he has created for the show.

Large Bronze Monkey Sculpture – Orangutan by David Cooke (Edition of 6)
This striking life-size bronze dramatically captures the species’ character of pathos and vulnerability.
Cooke has depicted a species that is literally hanging on.
The empty space surrounding the piece, with only a single branch, emphasises the melancholic subject of extinction.
Cooke’s Inspiration draws from the natural world and the emotions evoked by animal and human behaviours. ‘Orangutan’ won runner-up in the 2017 Wildlife Artist Of The Year competition.
A powerful work that deserves a good home. -
