This piece by Wilfred Pritchard is a unique steel sculpture that measures 305 cm high, 500 cm wide, and 140 cm deep. The work presents a full-scale interpretation of a standing stegosaurus skeleton. Constructed from flat, cut pieces of mild steel, each section is shaped to resemble the bones of the dinosaur. The pieces interlock with precision, allowing the structure to rise freely and support itself without external framework.
The sculpture captures the distinctive form of the stegosaurus, from its arched back to the signature plates that run along the spine. Each steel plate is cut and positioned to echo the prehistoric anatomy while maintaining a bold, contemporary aesthetic. The open design allows light and shadow to move through the work, creating constant variation as the viewer changes perspective.
Material and form work in striking contrast. The industrial quality of steel emphasizes strength and endurance, while the skeletal structure conveys a sense of fragility and time. Surfaces carry a raw, metallic finish that enhances the sculpture’s presence and underscores its engineered construction.

– The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require specialised equipment, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park and outside sources. We can provide an installation service upon request, please email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
This piece will require dismantling and rebuilding upon arrival, and may take a few days to complete. Experienced professionals handle all our sculptures, ensuring safe delivery and proper installation.
