Womans Torso by Sean Crampton, Bronze, Signed ‘SC 92’, Edition of 36, 33cm high by 14cm wide by 7cm deep, Body, Female, Figurative, Nude sculpture
Woman’s Torso is a striking figurative bronze by Sean Crampton, originating from a series of nudes created during his time in Paris in the 1990s with Alfred Rozelaar Green. The two artists, lifelong friends and collaborators since their post-war work establishing the Anglo-French Art Centre in St John’s Wood, spent time painting and sketching nude models in Rozelaar Green’s studio. It was during this period that Crampton produced several exceptional nude bronzes, including this editioned piece, signed ‘SC 92’ and limited to 36 casts. Measuring 33 cm high, 14 cm wide, and 7 cm deep, the sculpture holds a commanding presence despite its compact size.
Crampton celebrates the elegance and strength of the female form, emphasizing natural curves, subtle gestures, and poised sensuality. The torso is slightly abstracted, universalising its beauty and inviting viewers to appreciate form, proportion, and line rather than a specific identity. Every contour reveals Crampton’s mastery of bronze and his deep understanding of anatomy and movement.
The warm, rich patina of the bronze enhances its tactile qualities, reflecting light to create depth and dimensionality. Polished surfaces contrast with sculpted textures, giving the piece a sense of life and fluidity even in its stillness.
As a signed, limited edition, Woman’s Torso offers both artistic and collectible value. It complements private collections, gallery exhibitions, or sophisticated interiors that celebrate figurative art. Through its graceful form, the sculpture communicates strength, elegance, and timeless beauty, transforming a simple subject into a compelling work of art that commands attention and invites reflection.
