Winning Horse by Taurai Maisiri, Opal Stone, Unique, 76cms high by 123cms wide by 34cms deep, Animals and Birds, Sport, Figurative sculpture
Winning Horse by Taurai Maisiri is a dynamic figurative sculpture carved from opal stone. This unique work measures 76 cm high, 123 cm wide, and 34 cm deep. It captures the power, speed, and elegance of a racehorse in full motion. Maisiri transforms natural opal into a lifelike yet expressive form.
The sculpture shows a racehorse with a jockey riding astride. The horse leans forward, muscles taut, legs mid-stride, conveying energy and determination. The jockey leans into the motion, guiding the horse with balance and precision. Together, they show the unity of human and animal in sport.
Opal stone adds depth and luminosity. Subtle variations in colour and texture highlight the horse’s muscles and movement. The polished surface reflects light, emphasizing form and flow. Every angle offers a slightly different visual experience.
Maisiri balances lifelike detail with artistic abstraction. The proportions and gestures feel natural, yet the piece remains expressive. It celebrates speed, focus, and the connection between horse and rider. A fleeting moment of racing intensity is captured forever.
Winning Horse is ideal for gallery displays, contemporary interiors, and collectors of equestrian or figurative art. Maisiri demonstrates mastery of material, movement, and form. This opal stone sculpture combines elegance, energy, and visual poetry. It offers a timeless celebration of sport, vitality, and the bond between human and animal.
