Tessellation by Hongxun Jin is a unique marble sculpture measuring 113 cm high. The work presents an abstract composition built from interlocking curves and zigzag forms that weave together in a chain-like arrangement. The structure rises vertically, creating a rhythmic sense of movement through repetition and variation.
One side of the sculpture ascends through sharp, angled bends. These zigzag elements feel structured and architectural, forming a strong counterpoint to the opposing side. In contrast, the other side rises through smooth, flowing curves. These curved forms pass directly through the wider sections of the zigzag structure, linking the two systems together. This interweaving creates a continuous dialogue between angular tension and fluid motion.
Each curve and bend exists as its own segmented unit. The segments stack and connect with clarity, allowing the construction to remain legible despite its complexity. The repetition of these individual elements establishes a steady visual rhythm while avoiding symmetry. As the form rises, the alternating shapes guide the eye upward through the sculpture.
The surface is fully smoothed and polished. This finish allows the natural whiteness of the marble to dominate, with subtle tonal variations emerging under light. Highlights glide across the curves, while shadows settle into the angles and recesses.
Overall, Tessellation explores balance through contrast. Interlocking geometry, precise segmentation, and refined surface treatment combine to create a sculptural form that feels both ordered and dynamic, solid yet continuously in motion.
Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 1 person, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
