Mermaids and Fish Water Feature
This exquisite water feature has been cast in durable iron. It is designed with a timeless aesthetic that draws inspiration from classical mythology and marine imagery. Standing at 148 cm high, 107 cm wide, and 100 cm deep, the sculpture is carefully proportioned. As a result, it creates a commanding yet harmonious presence in any outdoor setting.
At the centre of the piece, two mermaids are shown in a graceful, upright pose. Their forms have been intricately sculpted. In particular, attention has been given to the flowing lines of their hair, the delicate curves of their bodies, and the soft expressions on their faces. A wide water bowl is held between them, positioned at chest height. This serves as the focal point, from which water is intended to gently cascade. Moreover, the bowl has been shaped with smooth edges and a wide rim. This allows for even water distribution.
Beneath the mermaids, stylised fish, resembling dolphins, have been placed at their feet. These aquatic figures appear to be in motion. Their arched bodies and open mouths suggest playful energy. Furthermore, the entire composition has been arranged to celebrate the natural rhythm and flow of water, both in function and form.
The cast iron has been selected not only for its strength but also for its ability to develop a rich patina. Over time, hues of brown, grey, or green may emerge. As a result, the sculpture gains an aged, antique character. In addition, the surface has been treated to endure outdoor elements, ensuring long-term durability and minimal upkeep.
Delivery & Installation
The Sculpture Park will be in contact after purchase to arrange a delivery date. Delivery will require at least 2 people, which will be provided by The Sculpture Park wherever possible. We can provide an installation service upon request, email Sian at sian@thesculpturepark.com to discuss details. Delivery and installation will be provided by The Sculpture Park for mainland Great Britain, excluding the Channel Islands, Scottish Highlands and Republic of Ireland. A mainland courier company will handle any onward shipping.
